Description
Manor Barn is a characterful and spacious home converted from a 17th Century "black and white" stone and timber barn. The spaciousness of the living accommodation as well as five/six bedrooms (and the huge pine dining table!) makes it especially attractive for larger reunions of family or friends, yet it is nonetheless cosy for smaller groups, with traditional furniture and comfy sofas.
Manor Barn is located in the grounds of the owners' Manor House, in a picturesque village conservation area. The building itself is listed Grade II as being of architectural and historical interest. There are views over open country to the south west towards the Black Mountains; the other side of Manor Barn adjoins a working fruit farm with apple and pear orchards. Pick your own seasonal fruit and vegetables (you can't get any fresher!) at Court Farm
Inside are many original features, massive oak beams, exposed roof trusses, and the original wooden sack winch.
Hereford City is three miles (Cathedral & Mappa Mundi, shops and supermarkets). There is a good golf course just half a mile away, and several more nearby. There is an excellent pub with restaurant (and imaginative bar meals) just one mile away, which is also accessible by a delightful footpath through the orchards - so the cook in your party may have a holiday too!
Herefordshire is one of the least changed counties of Old England, with beautiful rolling countryside supporting traditional farming, and ancient "black and white" villages with houses built of massive timber frames made from the oak forests that were plentiful long ago. The Wye Valley is renowned for its unspoilt scenic beauty and is excellent walking country. The open spaces and mountains of central Wales and the historic castles of the borderlands are but a short drive away. You'll be spoilt for choice of walking and biking trails, golf courses, horse riding - there are activities for everyone!
Hereford is in the Heart of England and easily accessible from all parts of the country. Come and enjoy!
